Pantone® is a color-matching system/corporation that has been in business since the 1950’s. Interior decorators, fashion designers, and graphics specialists are a few of the people who utilize the company. Every year, Pantone® chooses a Color of the Year. The color for 2020 is Classic Blue, a color that suggests security, elegance, and stability. Once thought of as a color only for males, Classic Blue is truly gender neutral. My grandmother (born in 1912) told me that long ago blue was used to symbolize the birth of a girl and pink for the birth of a boy. Quite different from today’s world, isn’t it? Personally, I am a huge fan of gender neutral colors and not labeling people (including babies) by subjective standards. I will be sewing a quilt or other project(s) to celebrate Classic Blue. Stay tuned to see that as it progresses.
