Pictured is a beautiful Rose of Sharon in bloom, on a tree in our back yard. Recall my post last Spring about another one. It is also in our back yard, but is on a shrub. The Rose of Sharon is a species of Hibiscus syriacus, which are flowering plants, and is either a shrub or a tree. Also known as Althea, the trees can be as tall as twelve feet. Being a hibiscus, they bloom the vivid-gorgeous flowers in the Summer and Autumn. Ours are all pink, but the blooms can also be white, purple, or even red. My late father planted the shrub and the tree many years ago. ‘Wish I had his “green thumb” ability. Do you do any tree planting or gardening?
