This is a vintage mirror, hair brush and comb set made of silver. My mother gave this to me; it belonged to her late mother, my grandmother. Sets like these were popular in Victorian times as well as through the 1950’s. My grandmother was born in 1912, the week before the Titanic sank. This beautiful set also served another wonderful purpose back in 2006 when I was an undergrad at the University of Mississippi. We produced the Tennessee Williams’ play A Streetcar Named Desire, and this vanity set was a prop on Blanche’s dressing table vanity. What a great prop! Don’t you just love old vintage items like this, especially when they are family heirlooms?
